VA opens comment on unchanged residency pilot data collection
Department of Veterans AffairsVeterans Health AdministrationConsultationOct 20, 2026
Check: VA is taking public comment until 2026-12-21 on extending, without change, the data collection for a pilot that places resident physicians at tribal-operated sites.
What it does
The pilot places no fewer than 100 resident physicians at covered facilities operated by Indian tribes or tribal organizations, so tribal health employers and their graduate medical education (GME) sponsors are the groups most directly involved. The notice extends the existing reporting requirements for sponsors and residents without change, and the pilot runs until August 7, 2031.
Why it matters for tribal funding
Tribes eligible. Tribes or Native organizations are among those who can apply or are covered, alongside others.
Who it covers: Tribal governments, Native nonprofits.
